Finn Wolfhard Announces New Album ‘Fire From The Hip’

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has officially announced his sophomore solo album, Fire From The Hip, arriving July 10. The announcement comes alongside the release of the project’s charismatic lead single, ‘I’ll Let You Finish’.

This new record follows the release of his debut solo album, Happy Birthday, which was supported by a successful US tour and a sold-out performance at London’s Electric Brixton. With Fire From The Hip, Wolfhard aims to push his established indie-rock roots into broader, more dynamic territory.

The lead single, ‘I’ll Let You Finish’, sets the tone for the upcoming project. The track opens with an indie-tinged guitar riff before transitioning into a more upbeat, drum-driven sound, layered with Wolfhard’s signature casual, charismatic vocals. The lyrics explore themes of modern life and relationships, building to a lively, infectious chorus.

Recorded this past February, the album draws significant inspiration from the classic rock sounds of the 1960s and 1970s, specifically citing The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main Street and Beggars Banquet as key influences. Wolfhard noted that the recording process was a deeply collaborative experience, involving his closest friends to help shape the record’s nostalgic and humorous tone.

“I grew up in such an incredible time for pop culture, of course my music is influenced by these events I lived through,” Wolfhard explained. “It was such a special experience being surrounded by some of my closest friends, whose support meant a lot to me.”

The ‘Fire From The Hip’ tracklist is:

  • ‘I’ll Let You Finish’
  • ‘Common Side Effects’
  • ‘Lights Go Down’
  • ‘Follow’
  • ‘Tunnels’
  • ‘Trail’
  • ‘Crater’
  • ‘Oscilloscope’
  • ‘Maggie’
  • ‘Nice To Meet You Again’
  • ‘Good Morning’
  • ‘The Climb (Not That One)’

Before embarking on his solo career, Wolfhard fronted the band Calpurnia and was one-half of the indie-rock duo The Aubreys. Reflecting on his musical journey, he previously shared his dream of recording at Abbey Road Studios, inspired by his heroes, The Beatles. As he transitions into this new chapter, Wolfhard continues to balance his music with his acting career, having recently wrapped up the final season of Stranger Things, which he described as an emotional “goodbye to my childhood.”
