Anna Calvi, Adam Buxton, Carlos Alomar and more lead ‘Bowie Night’ events at London’s Lightroom
A Celebration of David Bowie at Lightroom
A series of events celebrating David Bowie have been announced in London, with the likes of Anna Calvi, Adam Buxton and Carlos Alomar set to appear. The ‘Bowie Nights’ season is due to take place at Lightroom in King’s Cross, London, between May and September. It will form part of the immersive venue’s major new production, ‘David Bowie: You’re Not Alone’, which opens on April 22.

These cross-disciplinary dates will explore the life and work of the late icon, featuring major artists influenced by his work. On May 19, Lightroom will host ‘Jonathan Barnbrook On Designing Bowie’ – a special talk by the renowned graphic designer who collaborated with Bowie on every album from 2002’s ‘Heathen’ to 2016’s ‘Blackstar’.
Behind the Lens and Live Performances
On May 26, ‘Bowie Nights: Behind The Lens’ is set to see six of the legend’s photographers in conversation with author and journalist Miranda Sawyer. Geoff MacCormack, Kevin Cummins, Richard Young, Brian Aris, Denis O’Regan and Chris Duffy will discuss select past works. ‘Adam Buxton’s BUG Bowie Special’ follows on June 17, July 2, 3 and 4. The comedian, podcaster and actor’s live show at Lightroom will delve into Bowie’s most iconic music videos.
‘Anna Calvi And Carlos Alomar In Conversation With Guitars’ is scheduled for June 10. Calvi and Bowie’s musical director, co-writer and guitarist Alomar are due to unpack the late star’s songs in front of a live audience through a blend of discussion and musical demonstration. A first musical performance has also been announced, with a unique cello recital by acclaimed composer and cellist Peter Gregson on September 3, 4 and 5.
Immersive Experiences and Legacy
As part of the ‘Bowie Nights’ programme, Lightroom will extend its opening hours on select Friday evenings. Each ‘Bowie Late’ will celebrate a different era of Bowie’s career, beginning with the 1970s on May 1. For this, audiences are encouraged to dress in their best ’70s and Bowie-inspired outfits and can enjoy the show alongside a themed cocktail menu.
Richard Slaney, Lightroom CEO, said: “‘David Bowie: You’re Not Alone’ invites audiences at Lightroom to experience the imagination and creativity of David Bowie. It vividly depicts how he played with and drew upon all forms of culture in his music and performance; so, it’s a natural extension to explore his impact through this fantastic series of events, featuring both artists who worked with him and those who continue to be inspired by his legacy.”
More events are set to be announced soon, according to organisers. You can find more information about ‘Bowie Nights’ and buy tickets here.
