Ziúr – Home

Ziúr – Home

The latest record from producer and composer Ziúr explores the shifting concept of home, and the complex relationship she shares with her own place of birth — Germany. Backed by a slew of features and collaborations from Elvin Brandhi, Sara Persico, WIFE and Iceboy Violet, ‘Home’ is a deviation from the itchy, glitchy noise experiments of Ziúr’s previous records, slower and more somber, while still teeming with weight and texture. Opener ‘Brown Is The Colour’ is a melodic mass of dense synths, while ‘Spellbound To Ancestral Curse’ is a slice of swaggering experimental pop. ‘Im Bann Der Wehenden Fahnen’ (Under the Spell of Waving Flags), offers a reflection on her country’s disconnected political landscape, and features the first recording of Ziúr singing in German over sparse, glowering piano and creaking, crunching electronics. A hypnotic confrontation with statehood, identity and belonging.
