V Recordings launches mentorship programme for emerging jungle drum & bass artists

V Recordings have launched a new mentorship programme for emerging jungle drum & bass artists.

Led by label founders Jumpin’ Jack Frost and Bryan Gee, the 6‑month talent accelerator will offer participants a chance to “fast track” their jungle drum & bass careers, with help from a roster of industry mentors and cultural specialists.

The V Legacy program is designed to support ten rising artists (aged 18-25) from diverse communities, empowering them with the tools, mentorship and industry connections needed to propel their careers forward.

Successful applicants will gain access to studio sessions with jungle pioneers, alongside networking events, mindset and resilience coaching, showcase slots at V Legacy-affiliated events, plus follow-on career support and opportunities. Round 1 of V Legacy is open to aspiring producers, DJs, vocalists and MCs living in London or the South East.

“We’re launching a powerful new platform to discover, develop and showcase the next generation of talent,” the label shared in today’s press release, emphasising the importance of “pushing the sound and culture forward” whilst “staying true to the genre’s underground roots, countercultural spirit, and Black cultural heritage.”

V Legacy’s industry mentors include Full Cycle Records affiliate Krust, Intabeats founder Bailey, drum & bass artist and presenter Indigo Reign, Senior Lecturer in Media, Music & Enterprise (University of Westminster) Julia Toppin, trailblazing D&B artists DJ RAP and Promo ZO, and many more. Further support will come from partner brand, Code + Culture.

“I am excited to join the V legacy team because it’s always been an honour for me to share what I’ve learned throughout my journey,” DJ RAP shared. “Teaching isn’t just about music; it’s about passing on the culture, inspiring creativity, and giving the next generation the tools to write their own story. Jungle and DnB have always been about breaking boundaries, and being part of something that nurtures that spirit is truly special.”

“I’m truly honoured to be part of V Legacy,” Indigo Reign added. “My life’s work has centred on music and creating pathways into the industry for young people from marginalised backgrounds, so they know it’s possible for them too. I’m excited to be part of something that’s bigger than all of us, something that champions creativity and empowers the next generation.”

Recent figures from Spotify revealed that drum & bass streams have increased 94% in the past three years. Chase & Status and Stormzy’s collaboration, ‘BACKBONE’, was the platform’s most streamed drum & bass tune.

The past twelve months has also seen a slew of acclaimed LPs land from drum & bass producers. DJ Mag’s Top Albums of 2024 included releases from Alix Perez, Halogenix, Nia Archives, and Tim Reaper with Kloke.
