Universal launches dance music reissues label, RE:VERSAL

Universal Music has launched a new dance music-focused reissue label called RE:VERSAL.

Described by the founder Felix Lindsell, who also co-runs Dr. Banana, as “the first dance and electronic label of its kind”, the imprint, he added, “brings together classics, gems and rare music from the world’s largest music archive, featuring some of the most influential labels in history”.

The goal of the label is to bring together different labels, artists and genres under one umbrella, collecting different old tracks from Universal’s vast archives onto one record.

RE:VERSAL’s first release drops this month, and features classic tracks from artists like Soul II Soul (remixed by Masters At Work), The Orb, Alex Reece (remixed by Kruder & Dorfmeister) and The Future Sound of London. ‘REV001’ will debut on a limited one-time pressing on 12” 180g heavyweight vinyl. ‘REV002’ is expected to follow before the end of 2025.

Lindsell added that RE:VERSAL was “a unique cultural platform featuring DJ interviews, events, radio shows, rare archive content and artist collaborations in the dance and electronic music space”. Therefore, there will also be label events and pop-ups in the coming months, while the team behind the label will also curate playlists and put out DJ mixes.
