The trailer for the new Aretha Franklin biopic has been released.

The biopic, entitled Respect and starring Jennifer Hudson as the late Queen of Soul, will hit the cinemas in December. Franklin, who was involved in the film until her death in 2018, picked Hudson to portray her on screen.

Respect will take viewers from Franklin’s childhood through to her signing with Atlantic Records in the ’60s, and document her rise to stardom.

Earlier this month, Amazon Music have released a short film on Youtube about legendary disco singer, Sylvester. The documentary, Love Me Like You Should: The Brave and Bold Sylvester, explores Sylvester’s beginnings with a church choir through to his years spent immersed in San Francisco’s queer nightlife scene, and is available to view for free as part of celebrations for LGBTQI+ pride.
