Tomorrowland Announces Rare Performance from Funk Legend Eko Roosevelt

Tomorrowland has officially announced a rare live performance from the Cameroonian funk and disco legend, Eko Roosevelt, at next month’s festival in Belgium. The artist is scheduled to take the stage on the festival’s Melodia Stage on Friday, 24th July, marking his first live appearance since his performance at the 2022 Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda. According to organizers, this appearance will see Roosevelt become the oldest performer in the history of the festival.

As a highly influential figure in the African funk and disco scene, Roosevelt enjoyed a prolific period between 1976 and 1981, during which he released nine albums. His career has been defined by high-profile collaborations with artists such as Manu Dibango and Francis Bebey, alongside his tenure as the director of the National Orchestra of Cameroon. His musical legacy remains vibrant today; notably, Calvin Harris‘s contemporaries, Disclosure, remixed his track ‘Tondoho Mba’ for the 2020 deluxe edition of their album, Energy.

Roosevelt is celebrated for his unique ability to blend synth-heavy funk with traditional Cameroonian soul. Now in his late 70s, the artist has balanced his musical career with a chieftaincy role in his hometown of La Lobé, Cameroon, which he has held since 1998. This upcoming Tomorrowland set offers fans a rare opportunity to witness his artistry in a live setting.

The announcement coincides with the upcoming reissue of two of his classic tracks, ‘Phone Me Tonight’ and ‘Lobé Mon Ami’, arriving on 3rd July via the label Delirious Ears. A new music video for ‘Phone Me Tonight’, filmed at the Lobé Waterfalls, has also been released to accompany the news.

Roosevelt joins an expansive 2026 lineup that features major electronic acts including Calvin Harris, Charlotte de Witte, Hardwell, and Armin van Buuren. The festival is set to return following a comprehensive safety review conducted after the previous year’s main stage fire.
