This free plug-in turns free text into FX and instruments
Artists in DSP has released a free open-beta plug-in that can turn text prompts into FX and instruments called Amorph.
No prior coding knowledge is required to get the plug-in up and running, which works with macOS 10.13 or later, and Windows 10/11 (64-bit), and is compatible with most leading DAWs, including Ableton Live and Logic Pro.
Instead, it allows users to write prompts using LLMs like ChatGPT that Amorph converts into DSP code. Amorph then creates an interface with knobs for every parameter.
There are two separate plug-ins: Amorph Instrument for generating sound (synths, drones, noise generators) and Amorph Effect for processing audio (reverbs, delays, distortions, filters).
“The most important feature of Amorph is freedom. You do not need to know how to code to use it,” Artists in DSP said in a press statement on the launch of the plug-in.
Watch a walk-through video of Amorph below, which guides you through the manual installation process and shows you how to create FX and instruments.

Launched in 2022 by two former sound arts students, Artists in DSP is dedicated to “exploring and expanding the boundaries of sound arts and the process of making music in general”.
