TeeZandos – Still ODD

On ‘Still ODD’, we meet TeeZandos at the height of her powers. Steeled by years in the game, her writing and delivery are sharper than ever, and collabs — which include Cristale, Wohdee, P3Lz, and Show Hustle — are built on chemistry rather than clout. The first three tracks, ‘Back On’, ‘No, Yes!’ and ‘Crip’ get things off to a flying start — and there’s plenty of high-powered bangers throughout — but credit to Zandos for knowing when to dial back with tracks like ‘ABC’ and ‘Jail’. Her ear for a beat is on killer form, too. The drill bass slides are still a key element, but it’s the caustic alt-drill sounds on tracks like ‘Crip’ and ‘No, Yes!’ that hit the hardest. A well-balanced collection of scuffed-knuckle rap and introspection that never loses sight of the technicals.
