Synth YouTuber Look Mum No Computer is the UK’s 2026 Eurovision entrant
Look Mum No Computer has been lined up to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
The Kent-based composer and YouTuber (aka Sam Battle), known for his eccentric electronic inventions — including his Furby organ and synth bike — will head to Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle arena on 12th May for the 70th edition of the annual song contest.
In a statement, Battle said it was “an absolute honour” to be selected to represent his country at Eurovision. “I’ve been working a long time creating, writing and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process,” he said. “I’ll be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear and see what we’ve created.”
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC, said Battle was selected for “his bold vision, unique sound and electric performance style” that make him a “truly unforgettable artist”.
“Look Mum No Computer embodies everything the UK wants to celebrate on the Eurovision stage — creativity, ambition, and a distinctly British wit. I am sure he will make us all proud on the international stage in May,” said Patel-Knight in a statement via the BBC.
Five countries — Iceland, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and the Netherlands — are participating in a boycott of Eurovision this year on account of the European Broadcasting Union’s refusal expel Israel from the contest.
In a statement shared last December, Iceland’s national broadcaster RÚV said that “given the public debate in this country… it is clear that neither joy nor peace will prevail regarding the participation of RÚV in Eurovision. It is therefore the conclusion of RÚV to notify the EBU today that RÚV will not take part in Eurovision next year.”
