SoundCloud announce $15m worth of initiatives to help artists

News

SoundCloud has announced $15m worth of initiatives to assist artists who are struggling for income during the coronavirus crisis. The initiatives include direct “fan-support” buttons such as links to Bandcamp, Patreon, Kickstarter and even PayPal from your profile. There’s also $5m in free “promotional support”, which involves using the hashtag #GetMorePlays and SoundCloud’s editorial team will choose five artists per week to feature with promo.

SoundCloud is also launching a new distribution service called Repost that spreads your music across Apple Music, TikTok, Instagram and more and allows you to monetise your streams. Get more info on Repost here. SoundCloud will also be offering up a $10m accelerator fund for artists who use Repost via a new initiative Report Select. You can apply here.

SoundCloud has seen a 50% increase in tracks being uploaded to their platform in the past month, so are expecting to see continued increased activity over the global isolation period due to coronavirus.
