sooyeon shares new single, ‘in the club, we are all disassociating’: Listen
sooyeon has dropped a new single for Cross Country Records.
‘in the club, we are all disassociating’ is co-produced with Adam Curtain and is intended to “encapsulate the feeling of total surrender on a dancefloor – where the stresses of the outside world dissolve into sound”, according to the press release.
“This track was inspired by the feeling of losing yourself on a dancefloor,” sooyeon said. “Letting go of life’s anxieties is easier when you’re enveloped in sound, and that was the aim for the record. The track hypnotises at first, and then the bass spills out – eventually becoming all-encompassing, immersing the listener so they can melt in the low frequency.”

‘in the club, we are all disassociating’ is the follow-up to the producer fka Annie Oh’s 2024 EP ‘Block N Delete’.
Outside of releasing music, sooyeon launched her ‘Don’t Call Me Exotic’ podcast in 2021, with a second season launching in 2022 featuring interviews with the likes of Monki, Pianwooo and more.
The latest set of episodes in 2023 were produced in collaboration with Seoul Community Radio and developed during sooyeon’s recent trip to the South Korean capital, where she was born. Some of the themes covered so far include gender politics in the West and East Asia, DJ tips, and support for marginalised communities in conservative societies.
