Softube has launched a new plug-in based on the Weiss DS1-MK3.

The Softube Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor is an evolution of the company’s Weiss DS1-MK3 software (released in 2018) — itself an emulation of the studio-grade Weiss DS1-MK3 digital mastering limiter/compressor — designed for “high transparency, precision, and accuracy”.

A line-for-line code port of the original hardware unit, the new software processor offers compression control across five frequency bands and includes three filter modes (dynamic, static and linear phase). It also comes with a selection of presets from renowned mastering engineer Bob Katz and others.

The original Swiss-made Weiss DS1-MK3 is widely used by leading mastering engineers and costs upwards of $10,000.

Weiss DS5 Multiband Compressor is available at an introductory price of $449, and will cost $549 thereafter. Try it out for free here.

Acon Digital recently made its staple Limit plug-in free for two weeks.
