Site of former London venue The Gun acquired by fine dining group
The site of London venue The Gun, which closed last March, is set to reopen at the end of the month under the ownership of fine dining group, J-Pub Holdings.
The company, which owns high-end restaurants including Mayfair’s Aragawa steakhouse, has not yet revealed full details how the space has been altered or will be used, but its new Instagram bio reads: “Come for the Guinness. Stay for the Wagyu.” The premises will reopen on Monday 23rd February, according to its new website.
Opened in 2013, The Gun previously operated as an intimate music-focused pub venue for 12 years. During that time, it welcomed renowned DJs including Andrew Weatherall, Vladimir Ivkovic, Lena Willikens, Manfredas, Tia Cousins, Ivan Smagghe and Optimo.
Speaking about The Gun’s closure at the time, previous owner Nick Stephens said: “The Gun has faced many challenges over the years, and despite our very best efforts it has become unsustainable to continue trading. Locals Club would like to extend our warmest thanks to our loyal staff, locals and the many DJs who helped create such a special community at the pub.”
Following its closure, the team – who have also run stages at Glastonbury – took over West Yorkshire’s Golden Lion, another iconic English pub-turned-dancefloor associated with many of the same artists.
May’s Golden Gun Festival featured performances from Ivkovic and Willikens, Nick Stephens, Nathan Gregory Williams, who was the first artist to play in the London space, and many more.
A report published by the Music Venue Trust last month revealed that 53% of UK grassroots music venues made no profit in 2025.
