Selections: TEED
Orlando Higginbottom burst onto the UK electronic music stage in 2009 under his Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs moniker, and swiftly gained recognition for a whimsical, maximalist sound that fused house, electro and pop in unexpected ways. Early singles like ‘Garden’ and ‘Household Goods’ combined synthy cinematic flair with dancefloor energy, while the British producer’s 2012 debut record ‘Trouble’ showcased an artist capable of balancing heartfelt lyricism with cooing pop-hooks and broken electronics.
As his career progressed, that playful maximalism gradually gave way to a more refined and introspective approach. Re-emerging under the abbreviated moniker TEED last year, Higginbottom began experimenting with subtler emotional textures and a cleaner, pared-back production style, while retaining his instinct for melody and movement. His latest album, ‘Always With Me’, released in December, reflects this evolution in full.
Created on a single synthesiser in his Los Angeles studio, the record is coloured by an air of nostalgic reflection, recalling the carefree energy of childhood summer holidays through a panoramic palette of synth-pop, downtempo house and French-infused electro. Lead singles ‘My Melody’ and ‘Desire’ perfectly balance melodic introspection with easygoing dancefloor momentum, layering bright, dreamy arps over slowly unfolding melodies and shuffling house grooves, while album favourites ‘Come Tonight’ and ‘In Darkness’ are lively, intimate and endlessly listenable. This is indietronica all grown up.
TEED also recently collaborated with Dutch house stars ANOTR on the November single, ‘Sound of You’, his smooth, soulful vocal elevating the track into an instant club gem. “We’ve been sitting on this one for a while — more than two years in the making,” ANOTR shared. “It started as a beat we built during a retreat somewhere in a cabin in the woods in the Netherlands with Erik Bandt, and later took us to LA to sit down with Orlando (TEED). He loved the idea, worked on it together and the song started coming together.”
Ahead of another busy year in 2026, TEED spotlights some of the tunes that have been rocking his world, from wavy disco edits and underground house heat, to futurist electro, broken beat and techstep. Dive in below.
