Premiere: Papa Nugs ‘132 In A Ford Escort’

Papa Nugs and Ho Gosh have linked up on a new EP for London label Suckerpunch Recordings, ‘Dance Floor Renovations 002’. Listen to ‘132 In A Ford Escort’ below.

On the second edition of Suckerpunch’s edit/’90s homage series, label co-founder Papa Nugs goes head to head with elusive producer Ho Gosh on four cuts of sample-laden club clobber. Opener ‘Fight Or Flight’ is a wonky tech house treat with ample nods to the pre-millennium, whilst on A2 ‘132 In A Ford Escort’, Papa Nugs weaves vintage-flavoured vocals, strobing bass stabs and a fiery assortment of bells and whistles into a certified club knockout.

There‘s plenty more heat on the flip, including Ho Gosh’s sizzling, UKG-inspired ‘Dope Melody’ and the Beastie Boys-sampling groover, ‘Intergalactic’, from Papa Nugs.

The London-based DJ and producer launched the Suckerpunch label and club night earlier this year alongside Oisin, with a party at semi-aquatic North London venue, The Goose. Shortly after, they christened the imprint with the first iteration of the DFR series, featuring four hefty club heaters from Papa Nugs and Sheffield-based newcomer, Just Blakey.

In January, Suckerpunch is teaming up with London venue Corsica Studios for a night of killer club sounds, including DJ sets from label bosses Oisin and Papa Nugs, alongside S-candalo, Kitsta and The Trip. Tickets are on sale here.

‘Dance Floor Renovations 002’ is out today (27th November). You can stream and grab a physical copy of the EP here, and listen to ‘132 In A Ford Escort’ below.
