Premiere: Coen ‘Poppers’

Premiere: Coen ‘Poppers’

Coen is set to release a new mini-album, ‘Moshpit’. Listen to ‘Poppers’ below.

On the highly-anticipated successor to 2023’s ‘Slop, Drop & Roll’, the London-via-Manchester producer distils the raw, unflinching energy of thrash metal (notably Slayer) – which has served as a key source of inspiration since his teenage years – into eight corrosive, drum-led stompers.

The appropriately titled ‘Moshpit’ lands today (30th April) via Le Motel’s Maloca Records; boasting enough double-time kicks, industrial textures and raw, unflinching energy to lift the roof off any discerning dancefloor. A must-own for all drum connoisseurs.

The mini-album is the latest in an impressive run of releases on Maloca, including NVST’s new record, ‘Dreaming Of Us While Slowly Catching Fire In a Place I Never Belonged’, Chants & Dave Schoepke’s all-drums LP, ‘Speleogenesis’, and the label’s inaugural V/A compilation, ‘SIIIX, Vol.1’.

Last year, Coen launched a new alias, The Pleasure Boyz, alongside Exit Records affiliate borderlandstate. The duo’s first joint EP landed in September on All Centre, and was described by DJ Mag as a “double sucker-punch of hyperactive club bedlam.” Revisit our premiere of ‘ASMR Death Bed’ here.

‘Moshpit’ lands 30th April via Maloca Records. Grab a copy of the EP here, and listen to ‘Poppers’ below.
