Premiere: Belia Winnewisser ‘The Pulse Of The Unseen’

Air Texture is set to release the next instalment in its ‘Place’ compilation series, spotlighting local electronic music talent in Switzerland. Have an exclusive first listen to Belia Winnewisser’s ‘The Pulse Of The Unseen’ below.

Curated by Swiss stalwarts NVST and Nicola Kazimir, the compilation offers a diverse yet cohesive snapshot of the country’s electronic soundscape, summoning its natural sights, sounds and sentiments. Ghostly techno from Manuel Fischer sits alongside Blanche Biau’s weightless indie-tinged house, swatches of spectral ambience, experimental Brazilian funk, icy braindance and so much more.

“Our curation was a highly collaborative process,” the duo shared ahead of tomorrow’s release. “First, we aimed to equally represent the French- and German speaking parts of Switzerland, as each of us comes from one of these regions and has been deeply involved in the music scene for over a decade.

“We curated the tracklist much like we would a CD mix or album, mapping out connections and placing songs next to each other in ways that highlight shared references—ensuring a cohesive listening experience.”

Premiering below is Belia Winnewisser’s brooding pop-to-club collage, ‘The Pulse Of The Unseen’, which pairs hypnotic synth spells with intricate kicks and some genuinely intriguing sound design.

Proceeds from the release will go to Swiss charities Bildung Fuer Alle and Solidarite Tattes, which “play a crucial role in immigration by providing education and social spaces”.

Each compilation in the ‘Place’ series is curated by a venerated local figure, from Ciel documenting the Toronto scene, Efa O’Neill spotlighting Ireland, and KMRU diving into his home city of Nairobi, to ZULI unearthing Egypt’s underground.

‘Place: Switzerland’ – the fifth volume in the series – is out 1st August. Pre-save the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to Belia Winnewisser’s ‘The Pulse Of The Unseen’ below.

In 2023, Azu Tiwaline and Shinigami San co-curated Air Texture’s compilation on Tunisian electronic music.

Last year, Air Texture released a compilation spotlight femme and non-binary artists working within electronic music, featuring music by Introspekt, Bored Lord and more.
