Premiere: Aroma Nice ‘Feud on a Sunday’

Aroma Nice will release a new EP, ‘His Rotting Tongue’, via Galway-based jungle/drum & bass label Rua Sound this month. Listen to ‘Feud on a Sunday’.

Returning to the label after appearing as one half of the duo Monologue with Earl Grey last November, the UK-based producer serves up four cuts of frenzied breakbeat artillery here. Amongst all the brain-bending drums, there are flourishes of melody and emotive mood twists; like the monstrous figure on the EP’s cover art, it’s as bright as it is confounding.

Warped breaks worm around muted sax, keys and a soulful vocal sample on ‘Appreciation’, while ‘Trublz’ intensity is matched only by its wriggly effervescence. ‘Villablino’ is a toasty roller carried by gorgeous piano keys and a velvet bassline, while ‘Feud on a Sunday’ builds on a classic d&b tip before imploding into vocals and crushed drums.

Speaking about the release, Aroma Nice said: “I wanted to call this EP ‘His Rotting Tongue’ after having a Feud on a Sunday and some Trublz in which I’d lost Appreciation for old friends after being fed lies and myself being deemed a liar. Villablino is just a bonus roller I produced whilst over in Spain visiting a friend, who subsequently let me down and became just another memory. You could say I’m bitter. You would be right.”

‘His Rotting Tongue’ will be released on 21st February. Pre-order it here.
