Nine Inch Nails share first single from TRON: Ares soundtrack, ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’
Nine Inch Nails have shared full details of their soundtrack for forthcoming film Tron: Ares, and shared lead track ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’.
Out on 19th September, the soundtrack features 24 original pieces of music by Nine Inch Nails. Though the group’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have worked extensively on scores for films such as The Social Network, Challengers and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, this marks Nine Inch Nails’ first soundtrack for a film.
‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’, which you can listen to below, marks the first release of new music from Nine Inch Nails in five years. The song also features in a new trailer for Tron: Ares, which is the third film in the Tron franchise and will be released to cinemas in October.
Tron: Ares is directed by Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges and Greta Lee. It follows the 2010 release of Tron: Legacy, which was scored by Daft Punk. It was first revealed that Nine Inch Nails would be soundtracking the new film last August during an Official Disney Fan Club event.
The first trailer for Tron: Ares was released in April of this year.
“With Nine Inch Nails making the music, this instalment will be a little grittier, a little bit more industrial,” Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning said in an interview with Empire earlier this year. “It’s been important for me to contrast The Grid and the real world. In that sense, Nine Inch Nails lends itself perfectly into this new Tron world that we are creating.”
