New York club Paragon to host inauguration party for mayor Zohran Mamdani
New York club Paragon is hosting the official inauguration party for city mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.
The Brooklyn venue will celebrate the new mayor’s term on New Year’s Day, 1st January, 2026 with to-be-announced guest speakers and DJs Ashley Venom, DJ Sanna, KYRUH, Pure Immanence and more. Starting at 8PM, the event is co-hosted by the New York City Democratic Socialists of America and co-sponsored by Jacobin magazine. All proceeds will go to the NYCDSA.
The 34-year-old New York State Assemblyman won the recent NYC mayoral election on 4th November, twice defeating disgraced former state governor Andrew Cuomo. He’ll be New York City’s first Asian-American and Muslim mayor, as well as the youngest since the 1890s. In the last weeks of his campaign, he appeared at a sold-out PinkPantheress show at King’s Theatre in Brooklyn.
Founded by Bossa Nova Civic Club‘s John Barclay, Paragon opened in 2022 in North Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighbourhood. In January, the club’s team announced Paragon would be shutting down in April 2025 because they “simply cannot afford the financial reality of this industry in 2025”, but by July, Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson gave the club a “generous lifeline” so it could reopen in August.
