New Edinburgh venue, People’s Leisure Club, opens
A new venue has opened in Edinburgh, People’s Leisure Club.
The Lothian Street space comes from the teams behind the pub, restaurant and venue Gilded Saloon, Kelburn Arts, and Paradise Palms, an established nightlife destination known for DJ sets and an imprint platforming “emerging electronica, loose dance music and cosmic bangers”.
People’s Leisure Club welcomed punters for the first time on Friday 12th September by way of a collaboration between Samedia Shebeen and Ibero-American film festival, Iberodocs. Scottish selector Nightwave played the following night, with Huggy, Leon Vynehall, Sisu founder Malissa, and iconic label-collective Athens of the North due to stop by soon.
According to an Instagram post, the address has a capacity of around 200, boasts “immersive audio”, private booths, and “proper nice staff”. The concept celebrates leisure as a “fundamental cultural force, shaping how we congregate and engage with art, storytelling, music and community.”
