New book explores how war reshaped Ukrainian electronic music

A new book exploring how the Russian conflict has reshaped electronic music in Ukraine is set for release via Velocity Press.

Due on 6th March, Ukrainian Field Notes: Sound, Music and Voices from Ukraine After the Full-Scale Invasion focuses on the way acoustics of conflict — air raid sirens, bombs, gunfire and more — have actively altered electronic music production and everyday listening habits in Ukraine.

The book is rooted in more than 300 interviews recorded for the Resonance FM podcast, A Closer Listen, which platforms experimental artists in Ukraine. Host Gianmarco Del Re has authored the book. His previous work includes a documentary on alternative music in Bratislava and a monograph on artist and film-maker Derek Jarman.

Ukrainian Field Notes is available for pre-order now here
