Munich club BLITZ announces permanent closure with final run of parties
Munich club BLITZ has announced it is to permanently close its doors this summer.
The club’s team made the announcement earlier today, 18th February, confirming that its closing weekend would take place between Friday 31st July and Monday 3rd August. Until then, they say, programming will continue as normal with appearances from Quest, 1morning, Nathalie Seres and Josey Rebelle scheduled in the coming weeks.
“All good things come to an end, they say. Well… it’s true… BLITZ will close its doors in 2026,” the statement reads. “It all started with a dream, a feeling, a belief. When we signed our lease almost ten years ago and started building BLITZ, we didn’t know where this journey would lead. We only knew that we wanted to create a space rooted in openness, respect, and the powerful simplicity of dancing together.
“Over the years, that dream slowly became reality. Not perfectly. Not without mistakes. However, step by step, night by night, something grew that was far bigger than us. Those small steps gave us the strength to keep going. BLITZ became a truly devoted music space, a temple of dance. We always hoped to stay at this venue as long as possible, but for reasons beyond our control we have to set sail to new shores. We must go… and when we do, we do it in style.”
The 600-capacity Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt club opened its doors in April 2017 and grew to become one of Germany’s most celebrated techno venues.
