KOKO announces event series celebrating seminal London nightclub, The End
KOKO is honouring seminal London club The End with a three-part series this autumn.
The Camden venue is hosting a tribute to the West End nightclub, which was open from 1995 to 2009, across three nights, running 10th through 12th October. “The [End] represented a restoration of acid house’s music integrity, but with an ambition to pull the experience into the awaiting millennium”, KOKO’s team said in the series announcement.
The line-ups for the three dates are still to be announced, though the venue teased what sounds can be expected: “From deep house, to quality techno and drum & bass, this weekend will pay homage to the innovative sounds of The End, with some of the best artists in the game.”
The End is credited with changing the London club scene, as Katie Thomas’s 2019 feature reflecting on the tenth anniversary of the legendary venue’s closure put it. Residents included the likes of Andy C and Erol Alkan. Watch a short film from the lead up to The End’s final party, and a set from The End founder, Bushwacka!, where he shares tracks he’d often play during his residency at the club.
KOKO reopened in April 2022 after two years of reconstruction and renovations necessitated by a devastating January 2020 fire. Since its return, it’s claimed the 68th spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs poll.
