Jennifer Walton shares new single, ‘Miss America’, from debut album on Local Action, ‘Daughters’: Listen
Jennifer Walton has shared a new song from her forthcoming debut album for Local Action.
The new track, ‘Miss America’, is the second cut to be shared from ‘Daughters’, after lead single ‘Sometimes’. You can listen to the song below.
In a statement, Walton said: “‘Miss America’ sets out to convey the unreality of the time, both in the pursuit of dreams and them collapsing in on themselves under the pressure of reality. In 2018, I had the great fortune to tour the United States intensively over the course of nearly two months. It was on the last day of this run, while held at JFK airport due to a cancelled flight, that I found out about my dad’s cancer diagnosis.
“Touring had been one of my dreams since I was a child and formed a huge part of my drive to pursue music. This also formed a great deal of the bond between myself and my dad, with him recounting his own tour stories with immense pride.
“On arriving in America I was faced with this constant unreality, of all the media I had consumed throughout my childhood, making everything be perceived through a lens of fiction. Due to a tour van break-in I also had to go through the American healthcare system to try to reclaim stolen medication. The song tries to weave a balance through this time through a lens of Americana as seen from an outsider.”
Local Action is set to release ‘Daughters’ on 24th October. The album features contributions from aya, among other artists.
It follows Local Action’s recent release of a two-track EP by Hodge, ‘Tom’s Tweaks / Let You Know’.
