Jayda G shares new single, ‘If Only We Knew’, from environmental documentary soundtrack: Listen
Jayda G dropped a new single, ‘If Only We Knew’, lifted from the soundtrack of her new environmental documentary, Blue Carbon. Check it out below.
The new track features writing and production contributions from Lisa Kainde Diaz of Ibeyi, Jack Penate, and David Ariza. In it, Jayda G delivers lyrics in both English and Spanish, along with field recordings from the locations where the GRAMMY-nominated producer filmed the new documentary.
Speaking on the track, Jayda said: ”The song is a heartfelt plea to Mother Nature, with lyrics like ‘I keep calling your name,’ showing our desire to reconnect with the planet. Through this track, we want to highlight our impact on the environment and inspire everyone to seek forgiveness and work towards a better relationship with nature.”
Blue Carbon, which was first announced at the start of this year, was launched by CNN in the US in April and received its UK premiere this week, going live on the WaterBear streaming platform today.
The documentary follows Jayda G, who holds a master’s degree in environmental toxicology, as she travels with the documentary crew to explore the oceans’ potential to absorb more carbon from the Earth’s atmosphere.
The film explores shorelines from Senegal and Vietnam to France, Florida, Brazil, and Colombia, focusing on the stories of people living on the frontlines of climate change.
An additional screening of the documentary is planned at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in the Hayes Pavilion (Silver Hayes area), where Jayda will participate in a Q&A panel alongside EarthPercent following the film.
