Janice Robinson to Reissue Iconic Livin’ Joy Anthem ‘Dreamer’

The 1994 dance floor staple ‘Dreamer’ by Livin’ Joy is set for a significant revival as original vocalist Janice Robinson prepares to release a reimagined version of the track. The new interpretation is scheduled for release on 29th May via Armada Music, marking a poignant moment for the artist as she reclaims the song that defined a generation of club culture.

Robinson, who co-wrote the single in 1993, was a founding member of the group alongside Italian producers Paolo and Gianni Visnadi. While the track became a global phenomenon, Robinson’s departure from the project shortly after its release left a complex legacy regarding the song’s ownership and identity. This new release serves as a powerful statement of autonomy.

“Reimagining ‘Dreamer’ 33 years later and finally releasing it under my real name is more than a moment — it’s a full-circle reclaiming of my truth,” Robinson shared in a recent press statement. “To watch a new generation embrace an anthem that has lived, breathed, and stood the test of time… that feeling is beyond words.”

Reflecting on the song’s origins, she added, “33 years ago, on a train in 1993, I wrote ‘Dreamer’ from a place of pure hope — never imagining it would travel the world. Today, with Armada Music, I return to that same song not as the woman I was, but as the woman I’ve become.”

The artist has been vocal about the importance of this release, noting on social media that one must “live your truth” and “protect your legacy.” This project follows her 30th-anniversary performance of the track with The House Gospel Choir in 2024, which reignited interest in the timeless anthem.
