Jaguar releases debut EP, ‘flowers!’: Listen
Jaguar has released her debut EP. You can listen to ‘Flowers’ below.
The four-track outing features April’s single, ‘WILD!‘, and has landed on the DJ, producer and BBC Radio 1 host’s own UTOPIA imprint, named after her podcast series.
Co-written and producer by Jacana People, whose previous includes London Grammar, vocals on the EP’s title track come courtesy of Caitlin Stubbs. Also known as Aurelia Ray, her past efforts have featured on tunes by Dom Dolla, Gorgon City, and Jax Jones. Meanwhile, 1111, Bullet Tooth, lleo and Air Wolf Paradise also feature on the EP.
Inspired by more than two years of reflection, therapy and creative exploration by Jaguar, her inaugural EP deals with themes linked to mental health and transforming personal struggle into creative expression. You can download and stream here.
“‘flowers’ is about reconnecting with your inner child and finding resilience after hardship. In therapy, I rediscovered the fearless six-year-old my mum called “Madam”. I was this bolshy little thing with big hair, hands on hips, bossing everyone around,” Jaguar explains.
“When you’re 6/7 years old, you’re you in your purest form. I was drawn to “Madam”, and soon realised that she is my inner power, my spirit animal,” she continues. “‘flowers’ is a gift to myself, documenting deep personal growth and a creative journey that’s changed my life. Now, at 30 years old, I have never felt more like me! After healing pains of the past, I can finally stride onwards, my younger self and future self, connected, stood side by side.”
To mark the EP and 5th anniversary of UTOPIA, Jaguar will headline a day party in the Ministry of Sound Courtyard with I.JORDAN, Lexii and LU this Saturday 20th September.
