Influential UK club culture journalist James Hamilton’s writings collected in new book, Dance Pages 1983-1989
A new book is set to collect various ’80s articles by the influential UK club culture journalist James Hamilton.
Spread out across more than 800 pages, Dance Pages 1983-1989 covers an important period in UK club culture, as genres such as house, techno, hi-NRG and hip-hop emerged in venues across the country, finding their way into the sets of DJs.
Outlining further developments across the six-year period covered in the book, its synopsis points to “the role and prestige of the DJ changing as mixing came to the fore, with the technological advances of the electro era radically altering the dance landscape”.
The book includes almost 7000 record reviews, as well as monthly and annual charts, plus rolling news about the clubs and DJs of the era.
Dance Pages 1983-1989 is available now via SWS Books, and can be purchased here.
