Historic East London club space relaunches in former power station, The Timber Loft

A historic East London club space inside the old Shoreditch Power Station is set to return next month under a new name, The Timber Loft.

The 200-capacity club space is the brainchild of Rob Star, founder of Easter Electrics festival and mulletover, and Jacob Husley of WetYourSelf! and Sunday nights at fabric. That venue’s old Room 2 sound system will power the newly revamped space.

The Shoreditch High Street address, which is also home to the bar and restaurant The Light Bar, had a devoted underground clientele during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when it was used for the London editions of David Mancuso‘s The Loft. It also nurtured Secretsundaze, with one of the party’s originators, Giles Smith, returning for an all-day set at the venue the coming weeks.

The Timber Loft will launch on 1st February with the first in a new Sunday party series that runs from 3PM to 11PM.  Alexis Raphael, Dungeon Meat, Soul Clap, Hannah Holland, Giles Smith, Rossko and Baked Sessions are among the other confirmed artists for the first run of events.

London label Bizarre Trax will host a takeover featuring B.Love, Jhobei, and Lucy B. Meanwhile, Social Force Agency – home to Tristan Da Cunha, Georgia, Ralph Lawson, Phone Traxx, and more – will hold down a monthly residency.

Each Sunday will also begin with a “roast session” from 12PM to 4PM, which sees Executive Chef Jake Ayliffe plating up lunch before the room transforms into a dancefloor. Limited free tickets will be available online for this shift, with a caveat of entry before food service stops.

“This is an iconic venue on the edge of East London and The City, with such a rich history. I used to be a regular at secretsundaze and The Loft parties back in the 2000’s and I never thought that one day, I would be promoting the venue with such a great team,” said Star. “Jacob Husley has partnered with us as musical director and the line-ups for Sundays at The Timber Loft are already looking next level.”

The Timber Loft is the latest in a series of new club opening announcements for London. 2026 is also set to welcome the return of Palais in Peckham. Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, 4,000 capacity Eutopia Warehouse launched late last autumn, following the arrival of Gallery and Brixton Storeys earlier in the year.
