Gorillaz launch Kong Studios online video game
Gorrillaz have launched a new online video game.Kong Studios invites fans to “explore the rooms and spaces of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel”.
The animated group first shared this online world back in 1998. The Flash-powered site offered a chance to discover their headquarters, supposedly located on a hillside in Essex, England.
According to the band, the original iteration “fell into disrepair in 2006” when “all was abandoned but not lost.” This has now been rebooted, meaning visitors can make their way across a ghostly graveyard shrouded in fog and inhabited by blue zombie apes, armed a shovel, pistol and Tommy gun. Once through this section, they are free to discover the deeper digital realm.
“Kong Studios is the home of Gorillaz, a gamified fan experience where you can explore the rooms and spaces of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel,” read a statement by Gorillaz. “It’s also the go-to place to find out everything you want to know about Gorillaz, first.”
