Fundraiser started for pioneering Chicago house producer Adonis' unpaid royalties

News

A fundraiser has been started for pioneering Chicago house producer, Adonis, who revealed he had not received “a penny” in royalties from renowned house label, Trax Records.

Writing in a post on Facebook earlier this year, Adonis urged fans not to buy or support Trax Records. “This label has not paid me one penny in 34 years. Trax Records do not own any rights to my music. Please share this post everywhere,” he said. “Also tell all distributors to do not sell this record or any other of my songs from this horrible label. Enough is enough.”

A JustGiving page was subsequently created by a fan, with the title reading “We’re Raising £1,000 To Pay For Stolen Royalties For Adonis – No Way Back (1986) The First Acid (303) House Track!”. The donations have at the time of this article reached over £9000.

You can see the full post from Adonis below, and you can donate to the JustGiving page here.
