Four injured in shooting at Birmingham’s Mango club, investigation launched
An investigation has been launched after four people were injured in a shooting at Birmingham’s Mango club.
According to West Midlands Police, the incident, which happened around 3AM on Saturday, 20th September, left one man in a critical condition in hospital.
Two other men were being treated for less serious injuries, the Independent reports. The police also reported that a fourth woman sustained injuries falling over at the scene. She has since been discharged from hospital.
A 32-year-old man was arrested by West Midlands Police following the incident and released on bail.
“We are building a clearer picture of what happened in the nightclub, and are working flat out to ensure we identify everyone who was involved,” said Det Insp Racheal Allen. “It’s still really important that we hear from anyone who was inside the venue, or who may have taken any pictures or video.”
Mango, a 500-capacity nightclub on the city’s Bristol Street – who earlier this year hosted the official Drake afterparty following his Birmingham show – announced they would be closed until further notice.
“The safety of our guests and staff is always our highest priority,” they wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Sunday (21st September). “We are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation and will continue to support them in every way possible.”
It continued: “As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe environment, we will be conducting a full review of our security procedures and working closely with the relevant authorities.”
