fabric upgrades Room One dancefloor for the first time since 1999
fabric has carried out the first upgrade to its main room dancefloor since 1999.
Collaborating with Powersoft on the upgrade, work on the BodyKinetic dancefloor began after 2025’s New Year’s Day party. Among the improvements are the addition of Moving Magnet linear transducers – aimed to offer better vibration clarity – and other enhancements to provide greater accessibility for people with hearing impairments.
“We’ve respected the floor’s history while making it even more immersive,” said fabric’s Matt Smith. “The new system isn’t just an upgrade; it’s an evolution. The power, precision and consistency are unmatched, enhancing the visceral connection between dancers and the music.”
The dancefloor upgrade was soft-launched on Saturday, 18th January during a party in which Call Super and Craig Richards played b2b all night. It’s now fully operational and is considered the final step of fabric’s plans to improve its main room following an overhaul of the sound system, which was carried out last year.
