Eris Drew announces !K7 ‘DJ-Kicks’ mix
Eris Drew will handle the next instalment in !K7’s long-running ‘DJ-Kicks’ mix series.
The DJ, producer and T4T LUV NRG co-founder’s mix takes in 20 tracks and spans 79 minutes. It covers “the funky, emotional, ecstatic house-and-breaks backbone that defines my sound,” she said in a statement about the release.
Classic house and club music tracks from the likes of Moby, Calisto and Toka Project all appear, in addition to cuts by Drew herself, and her T4T LUV NRG label partner Octo Octa. The mix was put together on two turntables and a mixer.
Speaking about the set, Drew said: “I recorded it in my cabin with the violent world rolling around me. Being in my refuge in the forest was important; the mix needed to carry the feeling of that place and the inspiration I draw from it. I wanted the mix to feel like climbing a mountain – to produce an ecstatic sensation of overcoming.”
She continued: “I’m an all-vinyl DJ with 30-plus years of mixing behind me, and I feel the mix reflects that.”
!K7 will release Drew’s ‘DJ-Kicks’ set on 14th November. You can listen to the lead track, a new song by the artist herself called ‘Momentary Phase Transition’, below.
