Elijah Wood to DJ at Lord of the Rings-themed rave in Denver

A Middle-earth Celebration in Denver

Elijah Wood is set to headline a unique event this spring, bringing his DJ project, Wooden Wisdom, to a Lord of the Rings-themed rave in Denver. The event serves as a milestone celebration, marking the 25th anniversary of the first film in the iconic trilogy and commemorating Wood’s unforgettable debut as the protagonist, Frodo Baggins.

The actor will be joined by his long-time creative partner, Hollywood music supervisor Zach Cowie. Together, the duo has spent the last 15 years honing their craft as a vinyl-only DJ pairing, known for digging deep into rare gems and classic cuts.

An Immersive Musical Experience

Scheduled for 31st May at the historic Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom, the sold-out event promises an atmosphere where costumes are highly encouraged. While the duo is known for their eclectic taste, attendees can expect a setlist heavily influenced by ’70s and ’80s disco, alongside the rare tracks that have become a hallmark of their performances.

The Denver show is part of a broader series of dates for Wooden Wisdom. Following a performance in Orlando at The Vanguard on 22nd March, the duo is slated to bring their sound to cities including Kansas City, Dallas, and Los Angeles. While the Denver date is uniquely themed around the J.R.R. Tolkien cinematic universe, the other stops on their tour will showcase the duo’s standard, high-energy club sets.

Beyond the Screen

Zach Cowie brings significant industry expertise to the partnership, having served as a music supervisor and consultant for acclaimed projects such as American Fiction, Judas and the Black Messiah, and Celeste & Jesse Forever. His deep musical knowledge was also showcased during his tenure hosting the NTS show Play It As It Lathes between 2016 and 2019.

For those unfamiliar with the duo’s sound, Wood and Cowie have previously shared their curated selections through platforms like The Vinyl Factory. Their 2016 mix remains a testament to their range, featuring artists as diverse as Don Cherry, Robert Wyatt, and Baris Manço. Despite his fame, Wood has long maintained a serious approach to his craft, once famously clarifying on Late Night with Seth Meyers that his DJ moniker is simply his own name, not the tongue-in-cheek “DJ Frodo.”
