Electronic Music Board Game ‘Track Quest’ Launches Kickstarter Campaign
A New Way to Experience Electronic Music History
A Kickstarter campaign has officially launched to fund the production of Track Quest, an innovative board game designed to immerse players in the rich history of electronic music. Developed by the Barcelona-based music education organization Aulart, the game serves as both an entertaining tabletop experience and a deep dive into the evolution of global dance culture.
Gameplay and Cultural Depth
Spanning nearly six decades, Track Quest challenges players to navigate the timeline of electronic music. The game encompasses a vast array of sounds, ranging from the foundational eras of disco and Krautrock to the modern dominance of house and techno. Players are tasked with placing tracks on a chronological timeline using a combination of audio clips and strategic hint cards.
The competitive element is heightened by mechanics that allow opponents to disrupt progress. Players can mute hints, steal cards, and trigger “panic timers” to keep the gameplay fast-paced and unpredictable. A notable example of the game’s content includes a card dedicated to Daft Punk, described as the iconic French duo who famously performed in high-tech helmets to maintain their anonymity.
Customization and Expansion
To ensure longevity and replayability, Track Quest includes 200 “expansion cards.” These allow players to tailor their experience by selecting their favorite sub-genres and curating their own mix-like playlists. The game covers an extensive spectrum of styles, including:
- House and Tech-house
- Techno
- Drum & Bass
- Dubstep and Trance
- Hyperpop and Afro-house
- IDM, Trip-hop, and EBM
The launch of this project follows a growing trend of music-themed tabletop games, such as the business techno-themed board game released in 2022. For those interested in supporting the development of Track Quest, further details and campaign information can be found on the official Kickstarter page.
