Donna Summer posthumously inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has posthumously inducted Donna Summer in a Los Angeles ceremony.
The late disco star, who passed away in 2012 at age 63, was honoured by the industry body on 15th December at The Butterfly Room at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood. Donna Summer’s husband Bruce Sudano and their daughters, Brooklyn Sudano and Amanda Sudano Ramirez, attended the intimate ceremony, pictured below.
“It’s important to me because I know how important it was for Donna”, Bruce Sudano said in a press statement. “The backstory is, with all the accolades that she received over her career, being respected as a songwriter was always the thing that she felt was overlooked. So for her to be accepted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame I know that she’s very happy… somewhere.”
Donna Summer was posthumously inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2024.
Brooklyn Sudano directed the 2023 HBO documentary Love to Love You, Donna Summer with Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame posthumously inducted Prince in 2024.
