DJ Lag and Que DJ link up on new single, 'Where's Your Father?': Listen

DJ Lag and Que DJ have released a brand new track together, called ‘Where’s Your Father?’

Marking the first time the two South African artists have collaborated together on record, the track is intended to pay homage to their heritage.”We are considered as the gqom originators and so this collaboration is only befitting personally,” Que DJ said in a statement.”I’ve always wanted to work with DJ Lag and now we’ve finally found the time to make it happen.”

DJ Lag added:”The idea for the song came when I was DJing at a club. Que and my best friend Skoro were there and Que just took the mic and started saying, ‘Where’s your father, where’s your mother?’. There had been a video of Skoro saying those lines and it was trending on social media. Que started saying it in the club and in the morning we headed straight to the studio to record the song.”

The new song, which you can listen to below, follows on from DJ Lag’s debut album, ‘Meeting With The King’, which came out earlier this year. Que DJ, meanwhile, who started out as one-half of production outfit Distruction Boyz, recently became a South Africa Music Awards (SAMA)-nominated solo artist and founded his own record label, Amagogogo Sounds.
