DJ Babatr announces new album on Hakuna Kulala, ‘Root Echoes’, shares ‘Now Shout’: Listen
DJ Babatr has announced a new album, ‘Root Echoes’, and shared its lead single, ‘Now Shout’.
Drawn from over 700 tracks the Caracas-born DJ, producer and raptor house pioneer has created over the past two decades, the album promises to encapsulate his trademark mesh of Afro-Venezuelan percussion, techno, acid, Eurodance, trance and more.
‘Now Shout’ closes out the 10-track collection with a volley of chest-punching drums spiked with Carnival-ready blasts.
Babatr describes the new album as “a celebration of resilience, joy and solidarity on the dancefloor.”
In the Bandcamp description, he went further, describing the project as “not just tracks. They are sound documents of space, community, and survival, a genre built for collective release and celebration, echoing from the barrios of Caracas to sound systems worldwide.”
The new album arrives on 3rd October.
‘Root Echoes’ follows on from last December’s ‘Chup!’ EP and the ‘Chromesthesia: The Colour of Sound Vol. 1’ compilation in October, which explored the myriad forms of Afro-diasporic rhythms in electronic music.
