Conspiracy – Answers EP

When it comes to deep drum & bass, Five Alley has an impressive track record. The label, based in Toulouse, has put out EPs by the likes of Redeyes, Clusion and dubstep artist Bukkha, and now turns its attention to rising UK artist Conspiracy. ‘Answers’ taps into his R&B influences, with ‘Absent’ lacing a lush full vocal around tidy Think breaks and soul loops, and ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ adding echoic soul vox to shuffling UKG drums and glowering bass. ‘Obsolete’, though, is the highlight, with its squelchy synth chords, bustling rhythms and additive hook. Fans of Lenzman and Echo Brown will love this.
