Busta Rhymes honoured with Hip-Hop Icon award

Busta Rhymes has been given a Hip-Hop Icon award.

The US hip-hop legend was honoured with the accolade yesterday (17th August) by the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce executive board, according to Variety.

The award was handed over as part of Harlem Day — the finale of Harlem Week, a yearly line-up of free community events for local residents.

Meanwhile, as hotnewhiphop points out, the legendary rapper was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this month, an event that also included speeches from LL Cool J, Chuck D and Chris Rock.

Last year, the US rapper was among the iconic artists transformed into Lego figures for a new Focus Features film chronicling the life of Pharrell Williams. Piece By Piece also starred the likes of Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani.

Also in 2024, Busta Rhymes joined Ciara and Timbaland for Missy Elliott’s first-ever headline tour, covering 24 cities in North America and titled Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience.

Elliott was also previously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a street name in her Virginia hometown.
