Burning Man homicide investigation continues as victim is identified, fundraiser launched
The victim of the Burning Man homicide investigation has been identified as 37-year-old Vadim Kruglov.
Kruglov, a Russian native and a resident of Washington state, was attending Burning Man when his body was found “lying in a pool of blood” at night on 30th August near his Black Rock City campsite, according to reports. His father Igor Dmitrievich Kruglov has released two video statements about seeking justice on social media via Vlad Pigin, aka Vlad Rostov, a friend of Kruglov who has translated the statements to English.
“Words can’t express my feelings”, Igor Kruglov said. “I’m proud of my son, now known worldwide. The world has seen him as he truly was. He felt injustice deeply and fought for fairness always… This world is often unfair but, as a peaceful man, I seek justice. I want those responsible to face consequences.”
Kruglov’s family and friends have launched a fundraiser via GoFundMe to cover the costs of bringing his body to Omsk and funeral services. On the campaign page, they describe Kruglov as “a true hero of Burning Man” who “poured his soul into our community: building camp, creating art, helping others, and always sharing his kindness and energy. His contributions will forever remain part of the Burn’s history.” So far the GoFundMe has raised nearly $39,000 (USD) of the $45,000 goal.
The homicide investigation is being led by the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, who confirmed Kruglov’s identity as the victim on 2nd September. Burning Man officials are “fully cooperating”, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The 2025 edition of Burning Man experienced a number of other difficulties due to extreme weather. One attendees was electrocuted and airlifted from the festival site as severe dust and rain storms caused flooding and dangerous conditions on the ground, as well as extended traffic delays.
