Björk confirms new album is “in development”
Björk has confirmed she has a new album “in development”. This will be her first LP since 2022’s critically acclaimed ‘Fossora‘.
Last week, the Icelandic artist announced she was working on a brand new exhibition with James Merry, a frequent collaborator who has been involved in her projects since the ‘Biophilia’ album. The Echolalia exhibit will include three installations spread through different rooms of the Icelandic Art Gallery in Reykjavik – Ancestress, Sorrowful Soil and an as yet untitled work.
The show will form part of the city’s Art Festival in May, which has confirmed the project will include “new work based on music from her forthcoming album, currently in development”. 80 masks designed for Björk by Merry will also be on display, many dating back several years.
In October, Björk aligned with the No Music For Genocide streaming boycott, joining more than 400 musicians in blocking her songs being accessed by listeners in Israel. She has previously described Spotify as “probably the worst thing that has happened to musicians“.
