Beastie Boys announce special edition 'Check Your Head' 30th anniversary reissue

Beastie Boys’ classic album ‘Check Your Head’ is being reissued on vinyl to mark its 30th anniversary.

Coming via Vinyl Me Please, the hip-hop trio’s 1992 album will be pressed on burgundy and dark red vinyl for the updated release. It’s also been cut from the original master tapes, and will come with liner notes written by Mark Ronson.

In a statement announcing the reissue, Vinyl Me Please said:”Released 30 years ago, ‘Check Your Head’ proved that the Beastie Boys were capable of breaking new ground in hip-hop for the third time, and launched singles like ‘So What’cha Want’, that entire bands could build their career on.

“As forward thinking in its construction today as it was 30 years ago, the opportunity to do [an] AAA reissue of this album was an honour for us at VMP.”

Released in April 1992, ‘Check Your Head’ was Beastie Boys’ third studio album, and featured classic tracks from the trio such as ‘Pass The Mic’, ‘So What’cha Want’ and ‘Jimmy James’.

Pre-order a copy of the reissue, which is due out in November, via the Vinyl Me Please listing.

This special reissue of the album on burgundy and dark red vinyl follows an initial reissue of it, also to mark its 30th anniversary, earlier this year.

In July of this year, Beastie Boys were honoured with a street named after them in New York City.
