Avalon Emerson & The Charm share new single, ‘Written Into Changes’: Listen

Avalon Emerson has shared a new song from her Avalon Emerson & The Charm project, titled ‘Written Into Changes’.

Out today (20th February), the single is the title track from the US artist’s forthcoming album, which she announced in January alongside lead single ‘Jupiter And Mars’. ‘Written Into Changes’ arrives with a performance video recorded in Emerson’s home studio, which you can watch below.

In a statement about the new track, Emerson said: “Sometimes change barrels down tracks, announced by a high loud whistle. Other times it flows seasonally over sand, carving a canyon. ‘Written into Changes’ is a song about moving across the world and turning chapters in life. This song came together in London with Bullion, Hunter [Lombard] and Keivon [Mehdi Hobeheidar].”

Set for release on 20th March, the new album sees Emerson working with her full band while retaining her electronic music influences. In a statement, she said: “For the first album, the songs were pretty soft and kind of bedroomy, and then playing them on a big kind of festival stage was a learning experience. Coming back into the studio for a second round, it was important to think about the dynamics and energy of what we were making and how they might be performed in the future.”

‘Written Into Changes’ is the artist’s second album as Avalon Emerson & The Charm, following 2023’s ‘& The Charm’. The LP is available to pre-order here.

In November, she released the single ‘Eden’, which also appears on ‘Written Into Changes’.
