Auction of rare Tupac Shakur memorabilia closes this week

An auction featuring rare Tupac Shakur memorabilia wraps up this week.

Hosted by Wax Poetics, the auction, which ends on Wednesday (11th February) at 3PM EST/8PM GMT, gathers a collection of some of the most “sought-after” items from the late rap star’s pre-fame years as a member of hip-hop group Born Busy.

Among the items – which comprise the Ge-ology Collection, collated by the eponymous Born Busy member — are an original Born Busy cassette recorded in 1988, on which Shakur can be heard rapping a capella, aged around 16 years old at the time. The tape is significantly one of the earliest known surviving recordings of Shakur.

A framed invitation to the 1986 birthday of Jada Pinkett Smith (then just Jada Pinkett) and a set of handwritten Shakur lyrics are also featured. Check out the auction via Wax Poetics here.

Last year, Wax Poetics auctioned off a collection of rare vinyl records, studio gear and more from Louie Vega, alongside hosting an auction of memorabilia and other music items from DāM-FunK.

Back in 2023, Shakur was honoured with a street sign named after him in Oakland, California, close to where he used to live.
