Arts Council and Mode London are offering free DJ workshops for 18-25 year olds

Tottenham Hale-based radio station Mode London has linked up with Arts Council England to launch a month-long programme of free DJ workshops.

Open to 18-25-year-olds living in the London borough of Haringey, the scheme will begin on 2nd May and run through the rest of the month. Workshops will run from Monday to Friday and last three hours, between 12pm and 3pm.

“We will be accepting applicants of all skills and experience, teaching participants how to use industry standard equipment, how to source, organise and prepare music, [and] elements of radio production and presenting,” Mode London said.

As part of the workshops, a number of industry professionals will also be invited to offer advice and help during Q&A sessions, and at the end of the scheme, all of the participants will be paid to perform in front of a live audience to showcase the skills that they have gained.

“This is a great opportunity to get a taste of what it means to be a professional DJ as well as a chance for participants to invite friends and family to see what they have learnt,” Mode London said. “We are also keen to offer radio residencies on our station to committed participants.”

Food will be provided for all sessions, while there will also be support for those that may struggle with accessing Mode London’s studio via public transport for any reason.

There are 15 spaces available, with the application process open now until 14th April. Get your application in here.

In a similar move to help young, budding DJs, DJ Mag recently linked up with the Pete Tong DJ Academy to launch a free scholarship programme.
