Arca remixes Robyn’s ‘Sexistential’: Listen
Arca has remixed ‘Sexistential’, the latest single to be taken from Robyn’s forthcoming album of the same name.
Billed in press materials as “the world’s first rap about having one-night stands while 10 weeks pregnant after IVF” and a response to Andre 3000’s assertion that no one wanted to hear someone of his age rapping about colonoscopies, Robyn said she took that as her cue. “I have to do this, I have to write a rap about IVF,” she said.
Commenting on the remix, Arca wrote: “I’ve loved Robyn’s music for years, and am psyched to offer my support and encouragement to her. I want her sense of humour – bold vision and sense of melody is so important! And this track I’ve remixed, ‘Sexistential’, deconstructs pleasure, play and motherhood in such a refreshing way. purr!”
The new album will be Robyn’s ninth studio album and her first since 2018’s ‘Honey’. Produced with longtime production collaborator Klas Åhlund, it also reunites her with Max Martin for the first time since 2010.
The original version of the ‘Sexistential’ single joins recent tracks ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Dopamine’, the latter of which kicked off the rollout late last year before Robyn officially confirmed news of the new LP in January. A Jamie xx remix of ‘Dopamine’ has also been released.
Watch Robyn perform ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Sexistential’ at a Brooklyn show on New Year’s Eve.
